let's pretend that demons tell the truth sometimes. let's pretend that sam's death and resurrection wasn't an accident of fate, but something significant. let's pretend that all the rest of the psykids were irrelevant, decoys, and that's why everybody that ever knew THEIR mothers is still alive.

let's pretend that when ruby said "antichrist", when the jesus freak said "adversary", they weren't just making up fun words.

let's pretend that the person who holds dean's ticket isn't some shadowy figure we've never met, but rather that when red was making her speech about how her boss wants dean's soul, bad, and isn't gonna let it go, she was only talking about one guy. her boss isn't as cuddly as she is, i can tell you that.

and let's pretend that dean IS messy, sloppy, needy. warm. that he knows TV instead of books, that he likes to be silly sometimes and gross and dumb and unbearably lovable. let's pretend that dean is human.

and let's pretend that, one day real soon, sam isn't gonna be anymore.

there now. wasn't that fun?



i may not be right about all of the above, but it certainly was nice to think about. might make a good fic one day. on a less over-the-top note, i think sandy did just fine. the monster of the week was good, the meaningful silences between the boys all through the episode was better. cathryn humphris is winning, as far as i'm concerned.

i have gone so far past squee that i'm stuck in quiet contemplation, people.

eta: i don't know how i could possibly have forgotten this part, but. okay. is it me, or is more and more of jared bleeding through into sam? there was a line where sam was trying to come up with something it could be, and wound up with yeah, i got nothin'. i feel like that's very jared, but at the same time i feel like that's jared being more comfortable in the role of sam, in the trade of acting. i feel, watching those two walking together on screen, that i can practically SEE the relationship hovering in the air between them. it's just. there's nothing like it on television, god.

On the ETA - so much YES. Jared is just - yeah, he's gotten so comfortable in this role and it shows so much. And the chemistry between he and Jensen leaps off the screen, constantly. And it's THEM and it's beautiful and. *swoons*

It's funny, because I said the exact same thing to someone as soon as the episode ended. I guarantee you that Dean will end up being the primary force behind Sam's increasing darkness. This is not only because Sam's becoming more desperate in his search to break Dean's contract, but because the one counterbalance to that darkness - Dean himself - will become increasingly worried that the YED's words were the truth. A vicious cycle. Dean and Sam are going to be busy trying to save each other, and in doing so they are only hastening their own demise, sorta speak. Intersting indeed.

I know people think that Ruby is going to be some big bad influence, but I see her influence as completely dependent on Sam's increasingly turbulent relationship with Dean.

I know you want me to argue with you, but surprisingly, I have nothing to argue about. Except the bad guy of the week. I was left uninspired and kinda bored. I kept thinking "PULL THE PLUG, PULL THE PLUG ALREADY."

And was it just me or did Jared seem ESPECIALLY tall in this episode. Jensen looked teeny.

Also? "You're not Dad" and Sam watching Dean sleep broke me. A lot.

Sandy was alright, but I kept thinking JENSEN IS SO MUCH PRETTIER THAN YOU!

Also, it was weird, because I kept reading weird RPS vibes into the Sam/Sandy-Demon scene. Like Jared was basically telling Sandy to go fuck herself. My brain is on crack.

This season arc is just bothering me. It's so dark and scary and it's like this hole that just keeps getting bigger and bigger and soon it will eat everyone alive in it's angstydarkscaryhellishbroodingscarydarkness.

This show kills. Dear god.

I think the boy prince thing is right. And Sammy's going to find out who this is. There are two sides, even in hell apparently, and Dean's soul IS going to be forfeit. Gonna die and go to hell and all that. But then, Sam, in the desperate bid to rexuce his brother in the only way he can now, takes over the demons who are willing to fight with him, and he and they are going to do battle with the King of Hell (tm).

He whoops Hell King's ass, Rescues Dean, fixes his broken psyche (because time moves differently down there and Dean's probably been down there for decades by now), then sneaks them both out during the ensuing demon war, and shuts the damn Devil's Gate again, trapping everydemon and their bastard sons BACK in hell.

this is my most fervent wish.

BTW: Sammy killing CRD? Hottest. Thing. Ever.

::shudders:: That was exactly what I was thinking, watching the shouting match in the impala at the beginning. I was just. It was Sam and Dean, very definitely, but their comfort with each other, the crazy rapport and investment each had in the other, that connection was real and oh, they absolutely take my breath away.

If he's not going to be human, it's not because of demon blood, its going to be because he would consciously dehumanize himself, which imho is a far far worse possibility than being some sort of Adversary.

It would take some tapdancing on the show's part for me to buy that, but it would be very cool. Otherwise, Azazel is dead, Lucifer is an absentee god... who else is there?

And one of my favorite things about television is being able to watch actors get better over the years and more comfortable in their roles, and I kinda want to pinch Jared's cheek sometimes because he's definitely doing both.

I don't even remember anything that happened before the last scene really. The episode was . . . fine. And then HOLY SHIT SAM WINCHESTER. He's just going to keep getting darker as he freaks out about Dean and Dean is just going to keep getting more scared that Sam is going darker and/or going to break the contract and die and the more Sam tries, the harder Dean is going to make it for him and then Sam is going to have to try even harder and do more fucked up things in the process and it's just going to completely spiral out of control with them all tense and not talking and. I already feel kind of like I can't breathe, and it's the fifth episode. This show might kill me.

Dude. You know you're in my head, right? I'm still trying to reconcile when demons lie. What if they only lie by telling the truth?

I have these little thoughts fluttering around my head like butterflies-- These guys have been aware of/fighting/dealing with/learning about the Supernatural all their lives. Both of them have an affinity for it. Their lives, like the conversation tonight ("our lives everyday." "touche'"), are steeped in it. I think they *are* Supernatural. Both of 'em.

Like Bobby said, I believe in a lot of things, but coincidence ain't one of 'em. More when my insomniac brain wakes up a little, but DUDE.

I think were definitely seeing this season through Sam's pov and Dean's not looking as good as the previous seasons. We're seeing a brash, sometimes abusive, but ultimately lovable person. I think it's great. And man, how much do I love that they went there. That they made it explicit by having the cross road's demon lay it out. Maybe Sam can't take Dean's neediness sometimes. Maybe he really is just going through the motions, doing what he thinks he has to do. It's dark and conflicted and so grownup. I think Sam can have those feelings and not be a despicable human being. Humans are capable of feeling many things at once. Love and disgust. And I can totally see now how Sam can become the Boy King, before this season not so much. There was too much I'M GOING TO GO DARK SIDE OMG, last season from Sam, a lot of talking but not a lot of doing. Now we're being shown. The writing team is definitely getting better. Jared is definitely growing as an actor. And he never fails to make me laugh. That drawing cracked me up.
