Sorry, Danny, I have a research problem
Date: 2008-11-20 04:02 am (UTC)Jensen had a braided orange leather bracelet during the Joanna years, but he stopped that and started wearing 3 rubber and 1 metal bead chain bracelets for a while once the show started (last seen at the CW Launch on 18Sep06). Sorry, I'm too tired to figure out how to make it zoom out:
Jared's been shot wearing a single rubber bracelet since at least 2004, and he was still wearing one last weekend in Chicago...which, dammit, I know I saw on today's posts and now can't find. Blargh.
Well. When Jensen was on Megan Mullally on 26Oct08, I think he may be wearing what I'm calling the sandalwood bracelet. I can't say for sure, because it's rather light here, but sandalwood does darken with age. The close-ups from Chicago last weekend do make it look like stone, but it's been really orange in other older pictures, so I'm sticking with the theory that it's aged sandalwood. I may have seen it earlier, but I'm just not finding those images right now. Wish this was bigger though. Can't really see it.
At any rate, he definitely wore this year's bracelet to last year's Chicago Creation Con on 11Nov07:

Date: 2008-11-20 07:02 am (UTC)I'm inclined towards a brown jasper or agate, but that it is tied with black string and not the elastic cord you often find with budda bracelets makes me think west coast, not so much eastern influence, more folk.
..though, and now maybe I've been gazing too long, that isn't to say he couldn't pull off a really GREAT Anime character...he's got the face for it.

Date: 2008-11-20 03:14 pm (UTC)So, my limited personal experience with sandalwood beads is that they start off kinda pink (like the pic with Megan), and they get orangey as they're exposed to air, and brown/darken as they continue to age and are exposed to water and skin oils.
But I say you should make these whatever they need to be, Danny, as long as you write it....
