You'll all pardon me, I hope, for this unseemly display.
Would someone kindly explain to me what in the world the big screaming deal is with gmail? Everyone and their dog is all crazy in the pants about this, and I'm really not sure why. Sing the praises, convertees. Why's gmail stalking around the playground, beating up yahoo and hotmail for their lunch money?

Date: 2004-09-13 04:56 am (UTC)2) threaded e-mail -- so not only do you not have to delete anything, you can sort it all easily too
3) the ability to attach huge files -- and, to actually store them in your e-mail too :-)
It runs nicely too and relatively fast -- although, that may change when it's out of beta and more people are using it. It still has a few things that could be improved, but it's more than functional right now.

Date: 2004-09-13 05:05 am (UTC)GMail does have a couple twists and what could be a downside if they don't fix it -- the threading feature is cool for actual e-mail conversations, but the fact that it threads LJ comment notifications that have nothing to do with each other, but obviously all come from "lj-notify@livejournal.com" and have the same subject line of "Reply to your comment" is a pain in the ass.

Date: 2004-09-13 05:32 am (UTC)Mostly, it's the space. But there's also the 'label' function, which I like better than folders because a single email can have more than one label. I don't actually with the 'never delete anything' idea, because I don't want to keep every piece of dren that gets emailed to me. But I can now easily keep everything that I want to keep and keep it as organized as I want to. I like it a lot, so far.

Date: 2004-09-13 09:28 am (UTC)GMail is great especially for those friends you have email conversations with. Love the threaded feature and the search function.

Date: 2004-09-14 08:37 pm (UTC)I see the NUMBER of entries, but not the actual entries themselves. And they're still sortable. Freakin WIERD, man.
Does anyone else have this problem? Should I be emailing tech support? *chases after own brain*
