That's the picture they used in the EW promo for the ep! And it IS so CUTE. And you wouldn't think SAM would be the one connecting with a younger brother, or teaching him the family business--but there it is--with Dean pensive and not entirely happy, watching on in the background.
there's that, but there's also so many other things he could be thinking. quit teaching new baby brother about things that get him mixed up in demons and death, sam. this kid's a chance to get things right, not like i fucked them up with you, sam. just another way dad both totally fucked up and also did the exact right thing, leaving this kid to be raised a civilian - he betrayed our mother's memory, but i don't blame him really, even if i feel like i do.
I'm almost 100% positive he is ACTUALLY thinking that in the ep. Like Sam, leave this kid alone, he doesn't need to get all screwed up like us, and I can't believe YOU, of ALL people after what we've been through and how much you hated it, are the one trying to TEACH him about this.
i know nothing about the plot aside from the boy's origins, and i don't want to. but i kind of hope the kid turns up already knowing a thing or two, and demands to be taught. dean wants to say omg no, but sam's like, how can we possibly. shut up. i'm gonna. can't stop me.
Me neither. I normally don't do spoilers at ALL (except promos for next ep), but I clicked on yours quite accidentally, only meaning to leave a comment all "grr, you, for posting things i can't look at yet" and ignore whatever you'd written so as not to be spoiled, but then the picture popped up and I was all, oh, I've seen this!
Anyway... I have to admit to being somewhat perplexed by Sam's willingness to teach the kid, when he was so angry at John for telling him the things that went bump in the night were real and handing him a gun when he was afraid the thing in his closet was real. I've always felt like Sam was resentful that his innocence was destroyed like that. And I'd think he'd want to steer the kid the other way. Whereas, I'd see Dean more as the one who'd want to teach the kid. This is, of course, based on seasons 1&2 characterization, which just goes to show how much their characters and outlooks on things have juxtaposed over the last two seasons. Which fascinates me to no end.
it doesn't necessarily have to be teaching, right? i mean, the kid could easily be in some kind of trouble that he needs to get out of; sam could just be about figuring out what went wrong and fixing it. and i can easily see sam thinking, like, okay, this is a simple little haunting and i have done worse than that in the last four days.
and then there's the fact that the boy here is obviously of age, like, he's had a childhood already.
we don't know shit about his mom, either; she could BE a hunter.
I'm sorry, I know I'm supposed to see how they're bonding over research (possibly) and MORE IMPORTANTLY how Dean is looking all left out and possibly jealous and stuff...
BUT, DEAN IS SITTING ON THE TABLE. WHY IS THAT SO DISTRACTING????
Spn, bringing the really important questions since 2005.

Date: 2009-04-23 10:55 pm (UTC)And true that. The kid has had his childhood.
You're right. She could be. It would make sense, even, given that John was obviously already in the hunting life. THAT would be really interesting.
