okay. first and foremost, i wish to make it clear that ben edlund is my tv writer boyfriend. i have been saying that for months, y'all can take sera gamble and do with her as you wish. ben edlund. my boyfriend.

second, you all know what happened. you don't need me to highlight the perfect things for you. (face. shoe. batman.) i can't actually discuss those things in any detail, because every time anybody brings any of that stuff up, i just go all incoherent with how perfect it is, and i can't make words. so instead i shall focus on the smaller details.

- for the first time ever, i had maybe five seconds where i didn't completely hate gordon. oooookaaaay, mister crazy religious guy. was anybody but me expecting gordon and CRG to pull a faith and wesley and smash through the glass? okay.

- sam blushing as bela essentially frisked him: hot. the stereo sound checking-out of her ass that followed: double hot. dean being sam's weakness: crazy hot.

- let's talk for a minute about jared's ridiculous acting ability. let's talk about how perfect jared is, shall we? jared, jared, jared.

- the sections of the gag reel out of this episode are going to hurt us.

- dean's son of a BITCH at the end? god. GOD. okay? god. i know i promised you guys words, jesus, okay. *clears throat*

- sam's inability to decide what to do when the air conditioner starts fucking up is priceless. you can see it all play across his face - do i turn it off? i'll just break it. do i stand here? i'll suffocate. do i go outside? i'll get hit by a car, JESUS.

- i don't know if i like sam telling dean about ruby, but it does seem that dean will allow the talking, which might mean we get some ruby/dean snarly growliness, which would please me.

it's like there should be more, but i don't know how to say it. i need a rewatch.

and finally, use of this icon has never been more appropriate.

when sam shoots jake, the look on his face is not sad. it is righteous. later, he wretches around about that, but i don't mind it half so much as i do the totally fake and invented wah wah wah about having to shoot madelyn. there was no reason for madelyn to die other than to make sam and dean cry - as a writer's choice, that's the only explanation for her death. and i hate that a LOT.

hero makes a decision believed to be correct and later regrets/questions it: good. hero is put in contrived situation so as to bring about angst: bad.

I do see your point, yes. I'd resisted thinking too deeply about SPN because it felt like i was cheating on Buffy, but. I think it's too late now. The meta, it happened.

I hadn't thought about Heart too much beyond: Oh! Sad. and then: Wait, why isn't there more fallout than that? because the next ep is so funny. But yeah, in the context, there doesn't seem to be much point to Madelyn dying beyond, look: sometimes bad things happen to good people, and yet still they must be punished. That is not a good use of emotion. You're right.
