okay, here's the thing. i speak from the standpoint of one who has watched six of the eight hellraiser movies, hokay? and lemme just tell you.

our boys are in a horror series. and one of the big, huge, swingin tropes of decent horror is that you cannot have all bad, all the time. there MUST be comedy, or you're watching something appalling. tongue-in-cheek self-referential humor is a part of the genre and there is every excellent reason in the world to do a show like this, especially right before the big bad shakes down.

now.

i'm not saying that EVERY show in the world would make reference, in forty-two minutes, to evil dead, one star's past resume, the show filming across the street, the beverly hillbillies, the shoot location, poltergeist, the lead writer's colorful history (complete with knocking of same), evil dead again, hollywood ghost stories, leprechaun (the fan splatter)*, bruce willis in die hard AND use shots from their own show as stock footage in a fake trailer.

not every show. just ours.

because we. are made. of AWESOME.

There's no wrong in this episode. Little philly sammiches. Dean's encyclopedic knowledge of bad-bad-bad movies. METALSTORM, Danny. Jesus. Cell phone EMF. Black-and-white ghosties. Dean got laid! I'm so glad they did that because we tend to lose sight of the fact that Dean's canonically a horndog, and he *always* gets the girl(s). Or so it would seem.
