Happy political news!  Armageddon is upon us!

I love my town's mayor.  Recently, he has issued an official statement in support of Gay Pride week, and will be signing a proclamation about it, which the previous mayor would only do under threat of legal action.   (My province is like Canada's Little Texas when it comes to gays.  Bastards.)  This alone would make me love him.  But he's also said the following about a racist email forwarded around Edmonton's unstoppably corrupt cops recently:

"[There] is no place for people like that in the City of Edmonton's police force or, by my mind, in the city of Edmonton."

Goodbye racists, hello gay people.  I love our mayor.  I should go work for him.

Coming from the state that brought the world BOTH President Bushes I say... at least your Little Texas to the North is seeing progression. Us real Texans? Not so much. Our asshat of a premier is trying to find a way to scuttle that, actually. "Notwithstanding Clause". Just in case the feds actually do manage to get the legislation through, they'll be able to say 'not in Alberta, you don't!'

I saw a chick the other day who was dressed like a High School Bitch (the kind that likes to torment geeks like us... you know) and she had a big button that said "I support Gay Marriage." I was torn between hating her (which is the default setting) and loving her. It was strange. Stupid people not fitting into their stereotypical roles.... How am I supposed to make sweeping generalizations and insist that the world owes me for my suffering when there are understanding people around?!
