I do. But I alos know (and we go bringing our own life experiences to our perceptions) tht binge alcoholism is probaly the most underreported and undertreated forms of alcoholism out there *because* it's not a steady thing. It's not that the binger drinks, like I said, they can go months and be really, really good...but once they start, it's pretty much all over until hey get tossed out of the bar, pass out, or get in a car wreck. And there are behaviroal p issues with it becasue it usually surfaces under stress, and the alcohol is the crutch...It's highly disruptive to families but becasue "it doesn't happen all the time" a lot of excuse get made -- and it's easy denial.

People who go out and get drunk once in awhile aren't alcoholics. Becasue other times they will go out and have a drink or two and then stop, go on. For a binger, it's never just one or two. Pretty much never. Once they start they *can't* stop.

And I'm not saying John *is*, I'm saying it's possible he was, becasue it happened often enough for it to be the thing Sam thought of instead of being worried about his father. But as I said, if you (not you, you - you universal) hold with the notion that Sam's opinion of his father's behavior is more baseless than not, then maybe john didn't have a problem. In my own corner, I think Sam's more right than wrong as upposed to just uncaring.
