in a way it was kind of disappointing. i mean, in a show without lex luthor in it, how the jesus fuck will they ever even hope to top that? how? they can't. it's impossible. squee, in ascending orders of magnitude:

4. ollie hittin it with mercy graves, and then getting kicked out of bed for eating crackers. so very much ollie-the-womanizer, and the luthor-est thing mercy's done yet. john glover himself would have approved of that ice cold delivery. bravo.

3. ollie's what the fucking fuck face upon seeing clark and lois in the jewelry store. CLASSIC.

2. clark said muffin. lois was wearing his football jersey. the message on chloe's phone. she said yes. aaaaaaaaigh. that's how strong my love is!!

I know this may sound strange but I'm really loving this season. I love Mercy and while I miss Lex I think the show is vastly improved by not having Lana in it. It also doesn't hurt that I really LOVE Oliver. :) I'm also hoping Lois and Clark finally get together! they have so much chemistry together.

i didn't like mercy so much when she showed up? but when it became clear that she was actually intended to be MERCY, and that she and ollie had past, and that while she might be a replacement lex it's acknowledged in the text, like she's not as good as him, she's fumbling in his wake even though she might be pretty luthory she's not LEX, i do like that. i am liking her more as we go on, y'know? she's growing on me.

lois and clark ALL OF A SUDDEN have chemistry. i don't know what happened there. before, tommy might as well have been talking to a cardboard cutout; now he's teasing her, he's playing around and being the big goof we all know and love, and. and. EEEEE.

I was kind of worried when they introduced Mercy but so far I'm really enjoying her character.

I've always really liked Lois and the actress they found to play her but I think you're right the chemistry this season between them is so much stronger than it was in previous seasons. :) I liked their bickering though and now they are working together! :)

p.s. I always thought they had some chemistry, but then again I was comparing Lana to Clark chemistry which for me was in the -70 range.

I'm just waiting for an annoyed Lois, sick of what she perceives as Clark's inept ability to read people, to sarcastically say to him after one of his more braindead moments where he completely misunderstands what she means, "Can you read my mind?" Only for him to cluelessly say "...no?" and her to half-scream "GYAH! Do you know what is it that you do to me?!"

And then all us geeks could die in happy giggles.

Not that Ollie's undies didn't already make me happy. :)
